In the center of Laconia, next to the fertile plain of Skala and near the ancient city of Elos, lies the village Grammousa – the homeland of the ELIOS Agricultural Cooperative.
Since 2007, ELIOS has united 25 producers who cultivate with respect for nature and commitment to quality. With modern cultivation practices and the principles of integrated management, we offer fruits full of flavor, freshness and authenticity.
Our name comes from the general Elios, founder – according to Pausanias – of the ancient city of Elos. A name that symbolizes history, strength and continuity.
Since 2018, ELIOS has been a recognized Producers Organization under the name A.S. Fruit and Vegetables of Grammoussa "Elios", integrated into Measure 9 of the Rural Development Program (RDP) 2014–2020.
Our goal is simple:
To produce quality fruit, with passion, collaboration and respect for the land.

Oranges of the Navalina, Merlin, Lane Late, Navel Late and Valencia varieties are produced by ELIOS producers!
In addition to the production of its members, when necessary, ELIOS also collaborates with a wide network of producers from the region.
Regarding the marketing season of oranges, we can say that there is the possibility of offering our customers oranges all 12 months of the year, without creating any gap.
ELIOS producers cultivate all three popular pomegranate varieties, which are “Afrata”, “Wonderful” and “Acco”.
The “Afrata” variety occupies a cultivated area of approximately 250 acres and is the variety that produces the largest volume of pomegranate production.
The “Afrata” variety has been cultivated for many years in the Peloponnese and the residents called it that because its fruits peel easily, while its seeds give it a unique sweet flavor.
As for the “Wonderful” variety, it occupies an area of approximately 30 acres, while the cultivation of the “Acco” variety is at approximately the same level.
Below you can see the characteristics of the three varieties.
Statistics
For ten years now, HELIOS producers have been cultivating peach and nectarine.
Thus, the cultivation of peaches and nectarines has been developed in an area of approximately 80 acres and it is estimated that all of these estates will come into full fruition in 2016 with a production volume that will range around 250-300 tons.
The harvest, under normal conditions, begins in the first week of May for peaches and is completed at the end of that month, while the nectarine harvest also takes place during the same period.
